Myth, legend and fantasy combine in this story based on the original fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen in which the story centres on the struggle between ‘good and evil’ as experienced by two young people Gerda and Kai, who are friends. The evil element being The Snow Queen and her heart of ice and the ‘good’ being Gerda who embarks on a long journey to the Frozen North, facing obstacles and finding new friends in her quest to release Kai from the Snow Queen’s spell. Along the way she encounters a variety of colourful characters, including The Good Fairy, The Hippy Princess and a talking reindeer! Of course no pantomime is complete without the traditional ‘Dame’ and this one is no exception.
