Jazzient

Bev Knowlden is a saxophonist and percussionist who has played with many musicians and bands over the last 20 years. Her main influences are Andy Sheppard and Jan Garbarek.

Peter Shearn is a guitarist who specializes in looping and electronics, playing in several bands ranging from hard rock to jazz for the last 15 years. His motivations are the playing of Bill Nelson, Ernest Ranglin and Robert Fripp.

Both share a fascination with ambience. Using loops and electronics, the duo improvise long-form music over established song ideas and also randomised thoughts that allow ideas to flourish according to a current mood or atmosphere. With two individuals creating the music, it can go anywhere. Never the same tune twice!

Some of music has a familiar theme and can be relatively uptempo such as the Cure; LoveCats or a techno influenced Take Five from Brubeck. Other works are original themes and can be gentle and harsh, dischordant and melodic.

Jazzient perform in restaurants for diners, in galleries for viewers, cinemas for guests, on the streets for people and always for enjoyment.
