The County Donegal-born singer is the only artist in the world to score a hit in the UK album charts every year since 1988.

He first came to public attention in 1983 at the age of 22 and has since risen to become an Irish cultural icon, being was given the Irish Entertainer of the Year award in 1989, 1992 and again in 1996.

He has even opened the Daniel O'Donnell Visitors' Centre in Dungloe, the town of his birth, in May 2012, where he displays all his gold discs, awards and wedding suit.
