Ursula Myers on the historic estate that was once home to the Champernowne's and Edward Baring, the 1st Baron Revelstoke, of Barings Bank fame who, when he experienced financial difficulties, was forced to sell to a property developer who, in turn, sold the estate to the ship builder William Cresswell Gray but, after the first World War, the house fell in to disrepair and was demolished in 1927
