Last Tango in Whitby
For Pat, recently widowed, this year’s charabanc trip to Whitby is tinged with sadness. She is determined to enjoy herself, however, in the company of her old friends: warm, kind-hearted Jimmy and Joan; gentle innocent Jessie; Maureen; even garrulous know-it-all Henry, and interfering outspoken Kathleen. The holiday gets off to a lively start as Phil and Edna, the “Shangri-Las”, provide evening entertainment in the form of old-time dancing. Phil too, is trying to enjoy himself, despite being trapped in a dead, loveless marriage. It is during their first dance together that he and Pat feel the unexpected spark of mutual attraction. To the disapproval of friends and family, they decide to seize a second chance and start a new life together.

Plymouth-based theatre production company that puts on three plays every year as well as many more play readings and social events. We have been putting on performances since 1931, and have a rich history that spans across the years since our inception in 1930 when Frederick W Rowe, a member of the Gilbert and Sullivan Fellowship, was asked to provide a programme for a fellowship evening. He decided to present a two one act plays, and enlisted the Fellowship's leading lady, Kathleen Davey, to help. Neither Frederick nor his fellow players had any idea to form a dramatic society, but they were so pleased with their efforts that they decided to do so. We are a very friendly bunch who welcome new members, yound and old, interested in acting, backstage, technical, directing, front of house or whatever takes your fancy in supporting our productions and the group.
