Lupton House

Lupton House

Lupton House is a Grade I listed Palladian Country house built by Charles II Hayne, Sheriff of Devon, in 1772.

The park and The Italian Garden, laid out in 1840, are Grade II* listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

In 1926 much of the interior of the house was destroyed by fire, adding to the deterioration of the building. It has since been restored to an elegant and luxurious venue, open for weddings, concerts, family celebrations, public events and workshops to the benefit of all.

In 2008 the Lupton Trust was established and, since then, Lupton House has become a thriving centre for the community, financially self-sustaining through a combination of renting space including private hire, a shop and The Coach House Cafe. The cafe is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9:00am and 3:00pm.

There is a guided tour of the house on the last Wednesday of each month
