Middle Ground Theatre Company was founded back in October 1988. Early tours included a huge array of venues, from castles to hotel lounges, and the production of six plays for ten-week tours of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The remote communities of Shetland, Orkney, Barra, Benbecula, Islay, Arran, Harris, Jura, Mull and Lewis have all played host to Middle Ground. Following these productions the company progressed to bigger theatres and eventually to number one tours. Today it is one of the UK’s most prolific and acclaimed production companies, having mounted over 50 productions. Middle Ground’s Artistic Director and Producer is founder member Michael Lunney.
