Born Ketevan Melua in Georgia, she moved first to Belfast at the age of eight and then on to London at the age of 15.

At 19 she released her first album Call Off the Search/em>, which featured the single The Closest Thing To Crazy, and sold 1.8 million copies in its first five months of release.

Her second album, Piece by Piece, released in 2055, also sold well but, since then, she has enjoyed rather less chart success.
