From Holbein to Byrd/Kingsbridge Methodist Church/260320

From Holbein to Byrd
Mark Cottle
Mark Cottle was born on the Isles of Scilly and educated at Truro School, Cornwall, and Birmingham University, before going on to lecture at Exeter College on Medieval and Tudor history, St Mark's & St John's University College, Plymouth, and at Bath University on Anglo Saxon and medieval England; here he explains how England's Tudor century was an explosive one in which much of its medieval inheritance was transformed or swept away for new worlds, whether geographical, political, religious or cultural, with a specific focus on both the art and music, notably Holbein's portraits, the miniatures of Hilliard and Oliver and music from the recently rediscovered Nicholas Ludford to the later works of Tallis, Byrd and Elizabeth's Madrigalists
