St Mary the Virgin

St Mary the Virgin

Sitting next to the school and looking over the valleys towards Dartmoor, the Grade I listed Church of St Mary dates from the 13th Century. Much of the fabric was rebuilt in the 14th Century, while the aisles date from the 15th Century and the vestry from around 1840. Restoration work was carried out in 1870 and 1908.

We are a very welcoming community with a band of bellringers, a church choir, and our popular Messy Church. The school has weekly assemblies in the church along with a fortnightly group called PIPs for preschool and reception class children.

Our other services include a weekly Holy communion on a Wednesday as well as Sung Eucharists, Morning Prayer, Matins and All Age Communion each month at 11.00am on a Sunday.

We hold Bible Studies, we have a Mothers Union Group and we hold soup lunches and pop up Breakfasts from time to time in the Parish Hall.
