Bantham Beach

Bantham, Kingsbridge, TQ7 3AN
In 2015 Lonely Planet numbered Bantham beach as being amongst the 10 Best in Europe. Nestling deep in the South Hams at the mouth of the river Avon amongst stunning scenery with panoramic views over Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island, the privately owned beach is both family friendly and popular with surfers. At low tide the wide open shallow, sandy beach is ideal for picnics and sunbathing, kite flying or building sand castles. At high tide the sea comes almost up to the Dunes and the currents at the entrance to the river Avon can be quite strong at certain tides. There is also a strong rip tide offshore. RNLI lifeguards are in attendance between May and September and, should you like to learn to surf, Bantham Surfing Academy is based at Bantham beach. The Gastrobus is also parked here from Easter throughout the summer, offering healthy nutritious food for Breakfast Brunch and Lunch, using lots of delicious Devon produce and providing a fully licensed Bar
